The Competition is held in two (2) stages:1. Primary Stage: Deadline for application: 20th December 2012 (according to the post mark). The Organizing Committee will make a preliminary selection based on the application material and decide the qualification of the contestants. The applicant will be notified of the results by January 20th 2013 through our website and by email (provided in the application form).2. Final Stage: There are four (4) categories:Category A: Born in the year 2000 and younger (13 years old and younger)Category B: Born between 1996 – 1999 (14-17 years old)Category C: Born between 1992 –1995 (18-21 years oldCategory D: No age limitTo determine the age you should consider the calendar year (from 1.1. till 31.12). A younger contestant may compete in the higher age category though the contestant is allowed to take part just in one age category only.

1. Four (4) glossy photographs (4cm X 3cm) should be included.2. All participants are required to submit a DVD recording of one solo piano piece chosen from the First Stage for preliminary judging.3. A recommendation letter from a teacher. The applicants who won prizes at national and international competitions do not have to send letters of recommendation. If payment is not made by the deadline, the applicants will be disqualified automatically from the Competition.11. All applications will not be processed without a complete Application Form, non-refundable Registration Fee and related documents.12. Application Forms, which are not clearly or correctly written, will not be accepted.13.The name of candidate in the Application Form must follow the same as given in the International Passport, Birth Certificate or Identity Card.14. The competitors, who cannot find the sheet music of the Brazilian and Greek composers’ works, should contact the Secretariat of the Competition by email.
Competition Procedure
1.T his competition is open to pianists of all nationalities.2. All pieces must be performed from memory.3. A change to any of the chosen repertoire state in the application form is NOT allowed4. A performance may be stopped prior or during the Competition upon the Jury’s decision5. All repetitions should be omitted unless stated otherwise in the repertoire list.6. Not more than half of the candidates performed in the First Stage will advance to the Second Stage.7. Not more than six candidates who have performed in the Second Stage will advance to the Finals.8. The Jury’s decision is final and no appeal shall be entertained.9. Competitors should not have any communication with members of the Jury. If such an attempt is made, competitors will be disqualified from the Competition.10. In case the member of the Jury is a relative of the competitors or has been in a pedagogical relationship over in the past six (6) months, he/she is excluded from the Jury deliberations concerning this participant. 11. The Jury has the option to refrain from awarding all prizes and to divide the prizes between competitors in the event of a tie. In the case of a first place tie, the prize shall be divided equally between the tied competitors. 12. All decisions concerning the Competition remain the responsibility of the Organizing Committee of the “Roberto Szidon” International Piano Competition. The Committee reserves the rights to make all final decisions in the event of any misunderstanding.13. The International Piano Competition “Roberto Szidon” has sole rights over all competition performances, recordings, or films. No fees will be paid to any competitor on account of their performance or any recordings or broadcasts made.14. The Competition will be held in Agria-Volos, Greece, from April 13-20, 2013.15.
